What is AJ’s Travels?

On February 12th, 2004, I woke up in a cold sweat— terrified by the monotony, predictability and lack of vision that my life had in store for me. I saw that I was heading in the wrong direction in my career, love life, and most importantly in my own personal development. I realized that while I had traveled a fair bit in my life, I had never truly opened my eyes to the world around me and savored those experiences. For the first time in my life I wanted to travel. I wanted to do it on my own terms, on my own schedule, and on my own. There were events in which I wanted to take part. There were skills that I wanted to develop, people I wanted to see, and fears I wanted to confront.

On February 13th, 2004, I began planning this trip. This web site is the ‘clearing house’ for everything concerning my voyage around the world. Through my Blog, photos, and videos I hope to keep it fresh and interesting for those who check in often. I tried to keep the layout as simple as possible, and take advantage of as many web-based applications as I could considering the Internet will be hard to come by in many of the places I will be travelling.

While the intention for this site is to give family and friends a way to follow my journey, if you feel this would be of any interest to somebody else— please pass it on. I hope my experiences can inspire others to take the leap and start living.
